Dr. Aminu Imam, is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy, with about 10 years of teaching, research and administrative experiences. He has contributed to the training of several honor, masters and doctoral research. His research focus is on the metabolic and neurological consequences of insecticides and heavy metals in the pathogenesis, vulnerability to, severity, and treatment of neurological disorders. He specifically investigates the roles of sex (gender), age and intensity/frequency of exposures. His group employ different approaches, including anthropometry, histology, immunohistochemistry, behavioral techniques, stereology, microscopy, among others.
Aminu is a recipient of several awards including the TWAS-NRF doctoral fellowships, Wits postgraduate merit award, others from International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN). He was an ISN-CAEN fellow at the Universiti Jaume I, and a postdoctoral associate at the George Washington University.
